The immersion is great, but the blurriness of anything a bit far away kills the joy. I got my first ever gaming laptop a month ago (Legion 5 RTX3060) and got a second-hand Quest 1 a week ago, mostly wanting to use it for sim racing. I'll probably still waste a bit more of my time trying to improve my current results, but it seems that I will not get very far. Thanks for sharing your (frustrating) experience. Measured 2.2 gig USBc link cable, 120 Mbps virtual desktop connection. 2060 graphics card with i7 and plenty of ram. OBTW getting into Steam VR and exiting from Steam VR is very buggy, often requiring completely exiting everything by shutting down the link or exiting out of virtual desktop, then reloading everything, Oculus desktop via link, then Steam VR, then the game. ![]() ![]() The other problem with MSAA is it causes the otherwise stellar frame rates to hesitate every few frames regardless of whether in virtual desktop or link. I know distance viewing in the Quest 2 can't be that bad since other games do fine with distance detail, but Project Cars 2, the objects in the distance are a pixelated or fuzzy 'return with impunity' embarrassment. You can't read signs in the distance and objects are not much better than my Rift, that's right Rift, not RiftS. It does look smoother, if you consider a blurry fuzzy image smoother. It's the MSAA or Multi Sample Anti-Aliasing, off, low, medium, or high. The only setting between the ridiculous number of overlapping Quest 2 resolution management, pixel multipliers, link improving, virtual desktop speed enhancers and smoothing, is in Project Cars 2 control settings that does anything to smooth the image in the distance. For reference, Half Life Alyx looks great and plays great (with occasional stuttering). The car cockpit, driver and anything in near proximity looks great. Try me, I've tried everything over the past 4 days.Īnything in the distance is like Commodore 64 quality graphics. No setting in Oculus Quest2, Oculus Desktop Device Graphics Preferences, Virtual Desktop, Steam VR general or video settings, Oculus Debug Tool, SideQuest, OVRServer_圆4.exe priority, and most any combination or variations in Project Cars 2 resolution and smoothing makes a lick of difference. ![]() Distance viewing in Project Cars 2 is a pixelated, stair step mess in PCVR on Quest 2.
